On this second race day, the classic cars reached the heart of Italy: From Urbino, via Fabriano to Terni, the route went through the most beautiful cities in the Marche and Umbria regions. The Bugatti Type 35, driven by Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, who is officially participating in the race, continued its rapid journey to Rome. Stephan Winkelmann, Bugatti President, is driving a Chiron Sport1 '110 ans Bugatti' on the fringes of the event.
“The Type 35 is a fast and elegant racing car that is pleasant to drive. It is certainly one of the most prestigious participants in this year's Mille Miglia, having won more than 2,000 races during its heyday in the 1920s”, explains Stephan Winkelmann. “Its successor, the Chiron2, takes up these elements and on the bends of the Mille Miglia, it proves that it has everything that a Bugatti hyper sports car stands for.”
At the end of the day, the cars drove triumphantly into the capital city. The next stage will be the return trip to Brescia.
