Bugatti Leusden test drives bring on the superlatives
‘Indescribable!’, ‘awe-inspiring!’ and ‘out of this world!’ Those are the terms customers used after their Bugatti Chiron experience at a test drive organized by Bugatti Leusden. ‘Stomach-churning!’ also came to mind.
Why? Because the brain simply cannot compute the incredible acceleration of the 1500 horsepower Bugatti Chiron. On October 11 and 12, eight clients of Bugatti Leusden experienced that for themselves. Accompanied by Le Mans driver and Bugatti test pilot Pierre-Henri Raphanel, they drove the limited production hypercar for about an hour on the roads surrounding the Dutch town of Leusden.
The exclusive event started with a reception in the Bugatti Leusden showroom, where the clients were welcomed and briefed about Bugatti’s legendary history and design philosophy. Also present was Bugatti sales director Guy Caquelin, who invited interested customers to chateau Saint Jean in Molsheim, France, the headquarters of Bugatti and Ettore Bugatti’s former home.
There they can learn more about the illustrious sports car brand and visit the atelier to configure a Chiron, which – like its Veyron predecessor – is an engineering marvel. It can do more than 400 km/h, but is also comfortably at home in the city or on the motorway. Its momentous power comes from an 8.0 litre W16 engine with four turbochargers. On tap is 1500 horsepower and 1600 Nm of torque.
