A lot is happening at the new site of “Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.”, in French Molsheim (near Strasbourg). Since at the beginning of this year when the excavators first began breaking ground at the site where the Bugatti Veyron is to be built, the appearance around the Château Saint Jean, Bugatti’s French address, has changed a great deal.
Construction cranes, machines, and continuous truck transport have come to dominate life on the outskirts of the small Alsatian town. In the meantime, not just the foundation for the new assembly shop has been completed. The outbuildings to both sides of the Château, which were rebuilt according to the original plans, will celebrate the “topping-out ceremony” shortly.
The outbuildings, which served the legendary founder of the brand, Ettore Bugatti, as stalls for his thoroughbreds, will be expanded to contain the service center, as well as an “old-timer” garage. From next year on, not just new Bugattis will be built in Molsheim, but historic automobiles will discover new life after being restored and renovated there.
The progress being made at the construction site can be followed in the internet. Every three minutes, the webcam in the “Atelier” section delivers an up-to-date picture of the studio in Molsheim.
