New book: Marque – Legend – Renaissance


Available at once in the Bugatti Bookshop is a further work written about the Bugatti automobile dynasty. Commemorating the rebirth of the Bugatti marque in 1999, this book entitled, Marque – Legend – Renaissance, documents in five large chapters the background that lead to the rebirth of this extraordinary manufacturer of powerful, high quality automobiles.
In 150 pages, the authors describe Bugatti’s rise to become a racing legend, with an in-depth look at the stars of their day, among others the Types 50 and 35, and how the Bugatti name ultimately came to stand for technologically advanced automobiles with an unmatched sense of elegance and beauty, best exemplified by the 57 S “Atlantic” and the Type 41 “Royale”. In interviews, Dr. Ferdinand Piëch and designer Giorgetto Giugiaro tell – each in his own special way – how they encountered the Bugatti myth for the first time.
Finally, the first two studies, the EB 118 and the EB 218, describe how the firm’s feeling for exceptional design and unique technology (originally, an 18 cylinder engine version was planned for the first Bugatti of the 21st century!) contributed to Bugatti’s rebirth.
Large-format photos and drawings, accompanied by carefully researched commentary, will lead the Bugatti fan from the company’s illustrious past into what promises to be an even more successful future.
